There’s something undeniably special about Folly Beach—the salty breeze, laid-back energy, and sun-washed charm make it the perfect setting for a dream coastal escape. So when I was brought on to reimagine a classic beach cottage nestled just steps from the ocean, I knew it had all the potential to become something truly extraordinary. As I dove in with the home owners’ it became clear our goal is to create a light-filled coastal gem that captures the essence of relaxed, refined beach living.

This project is about honoring the spirit of the beach while elevating the home with thoughtful design and modern comfort. We are embracing the cottage’s bones but will bring in natural textures, breezy palettes, and custom touches that make every corner feel intentional and inspired. It will be about more than just a renovation—it will be a transformation to bring the home back to life, with soul, style, and a deep connection to its coastal surroundings.

In order to do that our design direction will incorporate a thoughtful blend of nautical, coastal, and laid-back style to honor its unique history while breathing in new life. Inspired by its seaside roots, the design will incorporate subtle maritime elements, breezy textures, and relaxed finishes that feel collected and lived-in. By preserving its original character and layering in timeless coastal charm, the cottage will remain a beloved piece of the shoreline—reimagined for everyday comfort and easygoing beachside living.

NAUTICAL

Incorporate nautical design elements to create a timeless, coastal feel rooted in the home's surroundings. Drawing from the owner's love of the sea, we will integrate authentic maritime details with textures and colors.

COASTAL

Prioritize a laid-back beach cottage cottage that embraces the beauty of imperfection and everyday living. Casual, durable materials, and an intimate and welcoming layout create a space where sandy feet and salty air are always welcome. It’s about comfort, ease, and a lived-in charm that invites relaxation and connection.

LAID BACK

Draw upon the coastal surroundings to bring a light, airy feel that reflects the natural beauty of the seaside. Soft palettes, organic textures, and natural materials create a relaxed, breezy atmosphere. By drawing from the rhythms of coastal living, the space feels both refreshing and effortlessly inviting.
